COVID-19 has placed each of us, our families and our city into a situation unlike any other. The future has never felt so unpredictable. We know these are challenging times for everyone, and we hope you’re in good spirits and health!

More so, this pandemic is exacerbating challenges that vulnerable families across Mississauga deal with daily. Our community’s health and social service organizations are experiencing an increased demand for services and the need to deliver many programs in a whole different way.

Now, more than ever, our community needs us. The Community Foundation of Mississauga in response, has established the Mississauga Emergency Relief Fund. This Fund is intended to provide essential relief funding to charities who have been negatively impacted by the current Covid-19 coronavirus situation.

What we are doing is offering emergency relief grants

The Mississauga Emergency Relief Fund is a special initiative that will assist charities serving the community’s most vulnerable citizens, including those with mental health issues, youth and families living in poverty, grief counselling, inadequate housing and seniors as well as others, facing isolation.

The Community Foundation of Mississauga has launched a fundraising campaign to invite financial support from our community. By pooling donations from our community stakeholders, we can make a difference to those charities who provide essential programs and services. While the COVID-19 pandemic affects all of us, its impact is most profound on Mississauga’s vulnerable populations.

Our campaign goal is $100,000. We launch with $20,000 already collected and as soon as we reach $50,000, a rapid response grants team will begin to evaluate applications, in an expedited way. It is our hope to deliver these urgent grants within days, not weeks. You can help!

The Foundation is a trusted grant-making foundation that has been making granting decisions since it began offering grants to Mississauga-focused charities in 2006. Our expertise includes broad knowledge of the community’s vulnerable populations, and those charities who are serving our communities greatest needs.

Grant applications will be available through the Foundation’s website. To learn more, click here

The economic fallout will have an impact on charities in every sector that we serve and will very likely last for a prolonged period of time. Our message to the community is that we are here to help and we are here for the long term.

Mississauga is home to over 800 local charitable organizations that have been serving our community, helping to make us a great city in which to live, work and play. Beyond meaningful government supports to get these charities through the next few months, donations, however big or small, from individuals, corporations and foundations are also urgently needed to ensure they can continue their vital work. Thank you

Our work would be impossible without the incredible generosity of donors and the wisdom of our Boards of Directors, past and present, who have created the capacity for the Foundation to support Mississauga in good times, and most important, in the challenging times we find ourselves in now. We are forever indebted.

In times like this, we’re reminded of how important it is to support each other. Thank you for being part of our community. Without you, none of it is possible.

Stay safe and well,
