The Community Foundation of Mississauga’s held its third annual Golf Marathon on August 25. It was a hot, sunny day, perfect to spend on the course. The fifteen participants arrived at Lionhead Golf and Country Club bright and early and were ready for a 7am tee-off. They were on a mission to complete 100 holes and there was no holding them back. Many of these were golfers from previous years who are well seasoned not only in the game of golf, but in the fundraising the Marathon requires. Each raised at least $3,000 to participate. The most successful fundraisers were Winston Meyer, Tim Haunn, Janice Baker and John Tinker, who went well beyond their fundraising minimums. Funds raised through the Marathon will help the Community Foundation of Mississauga support the programs that build the community’s vitality, including services in health, education, children’s needs, arts, culture, heritage, human-services, anti-poverty initiatives, the environment and so much more.
